So what, on GTA4 I can rent a hooker, have sex with her, torch my car, beat her, and get my money back? Yea, let's edit LFD2 when there are worse games out there.

To the person above me, you're right. The gaming industry is a major part of our economy. Imagine if MW2 was R18+ here? How many sales would it's midnight release have gotten? A fraction of the price. It's first day release? A fraction of the price.

They hear the word "Sex and violence" and run when 99% of kids don't get affected by games and just play for enjoyment. Seriously, what kid is going to run out and start assinating people, just because Ezio does on Assassins Creed II.

Most kids know fantasy from reality and will seperate them and will keep them from interfering with their life. Of course they''ll go to school the next day and talk to their mates about it, but they do that because they've got something new to talk about.

Just imagine if Twilight was R18+. It still would of got a big audience but 70% of it's audience would be young teenage girls. It would ruin the movie/books here and would ruin that community.

This guy, does have a point but seriously, half of the stuff he says is just crap and if he actually played a few games, he'd understand and see that they're not bad at all. They've ruined LFD2 and everyone I know just bought a copy of EBay. Who knows how many games they'll ruin next.

With games like COD: Modern Warfare 2 grossing more then box office films I find it interesting that he says:
–
"I think you will find this issue has little traction with my constituents who are more concerned with real-life issues than home entertainment in imaginary worlds."
–

Maybe the best direction for a pro-gamer argument is to look into the sales figures and employment that the game industry encompasses.. This is real-life.. It’s people’s livelihoods.

It could prove useful to gather the sales-figures for COD:MW2 and compare that to the loss of income refusing classification would have caused to that particular title, as big-game sales like this seem to be on the incline.

Figures on the growth of game retailers and console sales could also indicate that gaming is a grow industry and that stifling it now could prove more harmful then good.

It might be counterintuitive, but I wonder how many jobs would be lost today if you banned the import of R18 movies or even adult entertainment.

Figures like that could indicate the extent at which games could become an important part of our economy.

We need to think like politicians not gamers.. Unemployment and recession makes politicians squirm.
